Security camera hardware can be divided up into 3 categories.

1. The cameras themselves, these can range from entry level cameras starting at $50 / camera, up to professional level in the $400 / camera range, with many options in between. They can be wireless, ethernet wired, or ethernet POE (power over ethernet). This allows for a wide array of solutions for each situation.

2. A computer or separate hard drive unit (NRV) to do the actual recording of the cameras. Cloud options are also available, dependent on your internet service specifications. A computer will generally cost minimum $300, and depending on the size of your camera load, can go up to the $1000 range. A NRV unit is generally in the $150-$300 range. Each option has it's benefits, we can discuss your needs and help you find the right solution.

3. The third aspect to a camera system is your internet router, switches, and network cabling. This generally will run from no cost if utilizing wireless tech, to a few hundred dollars if needing wired cameras.

Your hard drive size will be the deciding factor on how much footage you can record. The larger the hard drive, the more footage you can record. Generally, on week of footage is a good starting point.

Overall, for a good 4 camera system, able to record a weeks worth of footage, you would be looking at about $300 on the low end.
